Ashwin Muthiah,

unPINNED Host
I’m Ashwin Muthiah, an author, wine educator, and documentary host, exploring the world through the lens of flavor and wine. I was born in Chennai, India and bounced as a youngling between India and the U.S. until my family settled permanently in Atlanta, GA.
Over the past ~decade, I’ve dedicated my life to better understanding the beautiful and mysterious world of wine and food by studying with and learning from makers of delicious things. I’ve lived in flavor destinations around the world like Tbilisi, Georgia; Islay, Scotland; Budapest, Hungary; New York, New York; Belgrade, Serbia — all in pursuit of flavor.
In Georgia, I studied the history and origins of wine. In Italy, I explored the passion of tasty everything — wine, food, coffee. In Scotland, I distilled peated and unpeated whisky and got my a** kicked by some of the hardest work I’ve ever done.
I’m the author of the unpublished manuscript In Pursuit of Flavor and the host of the eponymously-named documentary. I’ve helped tens of thousands of people transform from awkward and self-conscious to confident and light about wine. I’ve led wine tastings and classes for corporate, private, and public events around the world including in Washington, DC, San Francisco, New York, Boston, London, and Florence. I have a 5-star rating on Google with ~150 reviews and counting because I love what I do, and it shows.
I started unPINNED because I want to make the necessary knowledge to understand and appreciate wine available to everyone. Because wine isn’t actually that complicated. There’s just never been anywhere you could go to learn about it in a semi-structured way until we built unPINNED. I hope to welcome you into the community, should choose to join it.
